Brought to you by the wonders of modern technology – a great view down Eynhallow Sound, with the site at the Knowe of Swandro marked in red, courtesy of Darren Oliver:

Here at Team Swandro we’re Luddites at heart (well I am anyway & as I’m the only one who knows how to login to the website I am Team Swandro for web & social media purposes) & have been dragged kicking & screaming into the 21st century. Websites I can cope with, hence this dig diary, & I do have a mobile phone for emergencies but don’t know what the number is & anyway it’s always switched off. Hence Facebook is a bit of a mystery & as for Twitter, well really! Anyway, he-who-must-be-obeyed (i.e. the dig director Steve):

said we should have a Facebook page & a Twitter feed, which I have duly set up, but I really don’t know what I’m doing & I don’t have a handy youngster around to ask, but I have managed to send my first tweets. Lo & behold a very nice young man with a drone saw my tweet of Midhowe broch & very kindly offered to let us have his pics of both Midhowe & Swandro. (It did take me a while to work out how reply to his tweet mind you).
